Privacy Policy

Bedrock is built for BC free miners. We collect only what we need to run the app, we never sell your data, and we tell you plainly what we do with it. This policy explains everything.

1. Who We Are

Bedrock is a product of AppDrop (referred to as "AppDrop", "we", "us", or "our"). We are the developers of the Bedrock mobile application available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You can reach us at info@appdrop.io.

2. What Information We Collect

Your journal data is yours. Everything you record in your field journal — hours, notes, worker and equipment details, GPS points, photos, and receipts — belongs to you. It is private by default: no other Bedrock user can see it unless you explicitly invite someone to a specific journal entry (see Section 3), and we never publish it or use it for any purpose beyond running the app for you. When you delete your account, your journal data is permanently erased from Bedrock's database within 30 days (see Sections 4 and 7). The only exception is a finished assessment report PDF you have generated, which we retain as proof of service because it forms part of the public BC mining record.

Information you provide directly

Account information: Your name, as provided during onboarding.
MTO Client Number(s): Your BC Mineral Titles Online Owner Client Number, used to look up your claims from the BC Government's public WFS data service. Family and Unlimited plans support registering multiple MTO Client Numbers (e.g. claims staked under a spouse's or child's name) — each is looked up and treated the same way.
FMC Expiry Date: The expiry date of your Free Miner Certificate, entered manually by you to enable expiry reminders. We do not collect your FMC number.
Field journal entries: Hours worked, work type, worker names and rates, equipment details, GPS coordinates, notes, and any photos or receipts you choose to upload.
Notification preferences: Your in-app settings for which notifications you wish to receive.

Information collected automatically

Authentication data: We use Firebase Authentication. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user ID and your name. We do not receive your Apple ID email unless you choose to share it.
GPS coordinates: Captured at the moment you take a photo in the field journal, if you grant location permission. GPS is never collected in the background.
Device information: Basic device identifiers required for push notification delivery via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Subscription status: Managed by RevenueCat. We receive your subscription state (active, trial, expired) but not your payment card details.
Biometric authentication: If you enable Face ID / fingerprint to protect your Contact Information within the app, that authentication happens entirely on your device through Apple's or Google's system APIs. Bedrock never receives, transmits, or stores your biometric data — we only receive a pass/fail result from your device's operating system.

3. How We Use Your Information

Load your active mineral and placer claims from BC Government public data using your MTO Client Number
Store your field journal entries and photos so they persist across sessions
Generate your Physical Work Reports and Technical Reports using AI
Sync journal entries created with no cell service to our servers when you reconnect

To send notifications

Claim expiry reminders at 30, 7, and 1 day before your GOOD_TO_DATE
FMC expiry reminders at 30, 7, and 1 day before the date you provided
Released claim alerts for claims on your watchlist
Claim approval notifications when your APPLICATION claim transitions to CLAIM status

To generate reports

When you tap "Generate Reports", your field journal data — including text notes and photo descriptions — is sent to our AI report generation service to synthesise your Physical Work Report and Technical Report. We do not send your photos directly to the AI service; we send text descriptions of them.

Journal entries you choose to share

Sharing is controlled by you, one journal entry at a time. The author of an entry can invite specific people — identified by email address or Bedrock ID — to that individual entry. The person you invite does not have to be a co-holder on the claim; it can be anyone you work with, such as a hired agent or field assistant. They must have their own Bedrock Pro subscription to accept.

Once someone accepts your invite, they can view and contribute to that one entry — including your name, hours, work descriptions, GPS points, and photos on it. Sharing never applies to a whole claim or to your journal as a whole, only to the specific entries you invite someone to. Invitees can decline, and you can revoke access at any time from within the app.

Separately, a person who is a verified co-holder on one of your claims (established from BC Mineral Titles co-ownership records) may include work entries logged on that shared claim in an assessment report they generate for it, since the report covers the claim's overall work.

4. How We Store Your Information

All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), operated in Canada or the United States. By using Bedrock, you consent to your data being stored and processed in these jurisdictions.

Retention

Account data, claims, watchlist, journal: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
Generated reports (PDFs): Retained permanently even after account deletion. Reason: generated assessment reports form part of the public BC mining record and we retain a copy as proof of service. These reports do not contain sensitive personal information beyond what you submitted to BC Mineral Titles.
Field photos and receipts: Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

5. How We Share Your Information

How Bedrock makes money: Bedrock is funded entirely by paid subscriptions. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information for advertising or any other commercial purpose. We have no advertising business and no data-broker relationships.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the app:

Google Firebase: Database, file storage, authentication, and push notifications.
AI Report Service: AI-powered report generation. Receives your field journal text data when you generate reports.
RevenueCat: Subscription management. Receives your Apple/Google user ID and subscription events.
BC Government WFS: We query publicly available mineral tenure data using your MTO Client Number. This is a read-only request to public government data.
Apple / Google: Handle payment processing for subscriptions. We never see your card details.

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and associated data (except retained reports — see Section 4)
Withdraw consent for notifications at any time via app settings or device settings
Request a copy of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@appdrop.io. You can also delete your account directly in the app under Profile → Account → Delete Account.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Account → Delete Account). Upon deletion:

Your profile, claims cache, watchlist, field journal, photos, and receipts are permanently deleted within 30 days.
Your generated report PDFs are retained permanently (see Section 4 for the reason).
Your Firebase Auth account is deleted immediately.
Your RevenueCat subscription record is retained by RevenueCat per their policies.

8. Children's Privacy

Bedrock's App Store and Google Play age ratings (4+ / Everyone) reflect only that the app contains no objectionable content — they are not an invitation for children to use it. Bedrock is a professional tool for BC free miners and is not directed at anyone under 18.

While the app can technically be downloaded by a minor, its core functionality depends on holding a valid Free Miner Certificate, and you must be 18 or older to hold an FMC in British Columbia. We do not knowingly create accounts for, or collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided us information can contact us at info@appdrop.io.

9. Security

We use Firebase's built-in security rules to restrict data access so that each user can only read and write their own data. Communications between the app and our servers are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. We do not store your MTO or BCeID credentials.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
